Kiholo Tagging Trip

Purpose: This is our third tagging trip to Kiholo this year. Our purpose, once again is to capture, tag, weigh and do a health assessment of as many juvenile and sub-adult green turtles as possible. This will involve scoop net, fence net and hand capture techniques.

During the trip, we were able to capture 36 green turtles (Chelonia mydas). They ranged in size from 10 lbs to approximately 80 lbs. Of the 36 captures, 12 were new captures and 24 were recaptures. This means that 33% of the captures were new animals and may be indicative of some influx of new recruits to the Kiholo area.
