Longest Satellite Track on Record?

1243 days +

REI

Rei, a juvenile loggerhead turtle raised at the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, was fitted with a satellite tag Nov. 28, 2003. This little turtle's tag has been transmitting for over 1243 days now (3.4 years). This is the longest that any satellite tag has continuously given positions on any turtle that George Balazs has tagged and, probably, the longest for any ARGOS tag ever. Exactly how or why this is happening is not known. We are just very thankful for getting all this data!!!
